Senior Department Manager – Reinsurance Department

Job Scope :

Job Summary:

The Senior Department Manager – Reinsurance is responsible for leading and managing the reinsurance business portfolio, including treaty placements such as Excess of Loss and proportional treaties for Thai cedants. The role oversees strategic planning, business development, client relationship management, and operational excellence within the reinsurance function.

This position plays a critical role in strengthening relationships with clients and international reinsurance markets, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring high standards of service delivery while contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of treaty reinsurance business, including Excess of Loss (XL) and proportional treaties.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, cedants, and international reinsurers.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities while strengthening existing client relationships.
  • Advise clients on suitable reinsurance structures and placement strategies.
  • Coordinate renewal placements and new business submissions, including preparation of placing slips where required.
  • Work closely with underwriters and market partners to secure competitive terms and conditions.

Qualifications Required :

  • Approximately 10 years of experience in reinsurance or insurance, preferably in treaty reinsurance.
  • Experience in reinsurance broking or client-facing roles is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of treaty reinsurance placements and international reinsurance markets.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Professional qualifications such as CII or ANZIIF are an advantage.
