Division Manager – Legal & Compliance Department

Job Scope :

Risk Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive risk strategies to proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational, compliance, and conduct risks across all business activities, with a strong focus on customer interactions, especially vulnerable groups.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and propose effective mitigation measures.
  • Monitor risk exposure metrics, analyze conduct-related risks, and recommend necessary adjustments to insurance policies and claims data.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to embed risk management protocols and cultivate a strong culture of compliance, ethics, and risk awareness throughout the organization.
  • Establish and maintain internal monitoring and controls in line with regulatory requirements, including annual conduct risk audits covering product design, advertising, sales practices, claims handling, and complaints.
  • Oversee Conduct of Business Risk Management, ensuring fair treatment in all customer service activities from product design to complaints handling.
  • Lead monitoring, audit, and internal control efforts, establishing robust systems with regular audits focused on conduct risk. Provide comprehensive risk and quality evaluation reports to leadership for strategic decision-making and continuous process improvement.

 

Compliance

  • Research, summarize, and disseminate updates from the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) and the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC), including new regulations and industry news.
  • Complete KYC and Due Diligence forms, and manage Professional Indemnity (PI) certificate processes.
  • Maintain a centralized complaint register and oversee complaint handling to ensure regulatory compliance and resolution according to conduct-of-business standards.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain a centralized contract registry, ensuring timely documentation and compliance with regulatory filing requirements.
  • Prepare and archive supporting documentation for all company contracts to ensure audit readiness.
  • Follow up on the renewal of Power of Attorney (POA) for premium collection from life and non-life insurers.
  • Prepare POAs and supporting documents for regulatory filings or incident reporting.

Qualifications Required :

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of proven experience in risk management and compliance, specifically as an Insurance Risk and Compliance Manager or in a similar role.
  • Experience with risk management software and tools.
  • Certifications such as ARM (Associate in Risk Management) are a plus.

 

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to risk management and insurance.
  • Proven track record in insurance risk management and compliance within a large organization is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of risk assessment techniques, insurance policies, and claim handling procedures.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
